ASB August/September Report (10/03/20)
Position Assessment: Thus far in my position as Athletics Commissioner, I have not had the chance to tackle a real project. Usually around this time, I would be preparing for Powderpuff, but due to these unprecedented circumstances, that event is unable to be held. In fact, all of my upcoming events that I am responsible for rely on big crowds and sporting events to be successful. Because of this, it is hard for me to find productive things to do that will benefit and interest the student body. In the meantime, I have helped the Junior class officers prepare for Fall Fest, both in and out of the Leadership zooms, and we have developed a pretty cohesive outline for what we want to accomplish. I have also been involved in the MyIntent project with Morty, which has been super successful.
Professional Development: I have worked to develop professional skills through my general management of all of my schoolwork during this virtual school year. Seeing as everything is through Google Classroom, it has been much harder to keep track of all of my schoolwork. I have tried my best to stay organized and on top of everything. I also plan to further my public speaking skills in the Debate Club, which I will be treasurer for under David as president. I am hoping that this club will give me an opportunity to personally grow as a speaker and debater. Lastly, I have developed professional skills by researching future careers for our Mock Interviews later this year. By doing this, I am gaining more knowledge and insight into what some of my possible future careers might look like, allowing me to be prepared for life after high school and college.
Concerns/Change: I am concerned with the success of Fall Fest. This event seems a little rushed, but I am hoping that we are able to gain enough support from the student body. However, I also know how my peers operate. Everyone is tired of zooms, online work, and thinking about school in general. No matter how hard we work on this project, I just don’t know if students will have the motivation and desire to participate in it, given our circumstances.
Positive Comment: I would like to shout out the Junior class officers for their improvisation in creating fun activities for the Junior class to enjoy. The main thing that they are doing is Shoutout Sunday, where students get to vote for their peers based on specific categories. This allows our class to feel loved, recognized, and appreciated, which is an awesome thing.
My Impact: I have impacted my peers in a positive way by doing my best to set an example of taking school seriously. Many of my peers and friends do not care at all about online classes, and although I don’t like them either, it is so important that we keep our grades high, especially in our junior year. Essentially, I am trying to ensure that my peers stay on top of their work.

ASB October/November Report (12/3/20)
Position Assessment: In the months of October and November, I did not have any tasks that were specifically tied to my job as Athletics Commissioner. However, I helped the Junior Class Officers have a successful Fall Fest. I did this by advertising the event and encouraging students to dress up and participate. I also helped decorate the door and build our float. Besides Fall Fest, I helped Morty prepare for the Dude Be Nice event by being in charge of the “throne” that Mr. Perez sat on when he was receiving his gifts. Naomi, Avery, and I were in charge of decorating it. I also made a 30-second clip talking about Mr. Perez and all of the amazing things that he has done for Ripon High, and I wrote a letter for him as well. Now, I am preparing to write my speech and present it in the coming weeks.
Professional Development: In these past couple of months, I have developed professionally by beginning my professional page on my weebly website. I have also done research on my mock interview and the job that I will be interviewing for, which is an Industrial Engineer. I also picked my public speech topic, which is titled “The Importance of Respecting our Elders.” This speech is something that I plan to take seriously and do extensive research on it. I also developed in terms of organization skills due to my work on Fall Fest and Dude Be Nice. These skills will help prepare me for life after high school by giving me experience in the professional world and allowing me to take more responsibility and be more organized and hardworking.
Concerns/Change: I am concerned about the future of our Leadership events, especially Homecoming and the Talent Show. At this time, we do not know what the future holds for these events, and I am hoping that we can retain some form of these events, because they are very important to our program and our school as a whole.
Positive Comment: I would like to give a positive comment to Derek. I think he deserves this because he works really hard as a technology commissioner, even though it is his first year in the program. He probably has the most stressful job out of anyone in the program, since he has had to make several videos already. I am really impressed with the work that he has put into this program so far.
My Impact: I have changed the world today by being eco-friendly and caring about the natural environment. Recently, I have done a lot of research on the impact of fossil fuels and greenhouse gases on the atmosphere and overall heat level of Earth. If we don’t begin to be more aware of the fact that Earth is heating up quickly, it will be too late. I have also made an impact among my peers by encouraging them to take school seriously and pay attention in class. Among the craziness of online school, so many of my peers have begun to ignore their responsibilities, so I have tried my best to encourage them to stay motivated.

ASB December-March Report (3/18/21)
Position Assessment: As Athletics Commissioner in the months of December through March, I did not do anything specific to my job description until recently, where I was put in charge of the Senior Sports Spotlight Event. For this event, I had to facilitate the entire event, which included assigning an athlete for each student in Leadership to make a flyer and social media post for, ordering flowers for each athlete, decorating a wall with everyone's flyers, and distributing the flowers to the athletes during class. This event was a lot of fun, and it makes me feel like we are finally returning to a normal school year as we gear up for Homecoming. I have also started to plan our wall decoration and lip-sync with the Junior class in Leadership, and we have some great ideas that we will work on more in the coming days. I also worked with the rest of the class to make clovers for St. Patrick's Day, and I prepared my resume and cover letter for our Mock Interviews in late April. Overall, not much happened in my job position these past few months until very recently, but I expect a lot more to happen in the coming weeks, which I am very excited for.
Professional Development: For my professional development these past couple of months, I was able to complete my public speech in Leadership, and prepare further for my Mock Interview in late April. For my speech, I discussed to the class why it is important for us to appreciate and respect our elders. For my Mock Interview, I am "applying" for the job of an Industrial Engineer. To prepare for this, I did research on the job, created a resume, made a cover letter, and organized the professional section on my website. All of these things have helped me become more familiar with real-life situations in the professional world, which I will encounter later on in my life. Lastly, I developed organization skills through planning the Senior Spotlight event, which included ordering flowers through a purchase order and instructing the class on what to do for this event.
Concerns/Change: I am concerned about student participation in Homecoming. I feel like we haven't publicized the event enough, and most people that I have talked to about it don't really understand what's going on. Also, due to COVID restrictions, I'm still unsure on what is and isn't allowed for this event, and whether or not the student body will follow these rules.
Positive Comment: I would like to shoutout Niki, Kate, Gracie, Avery, Naomi, and Morty for spending several hours doing 8th grade interviews. I was doing it for only a couple hours due to my SAT, but they spent so long getting through all of those interviews, which I am really grateful for. We were able to get through everyone and figure out our 8 picks for the class next year, all in one day. It was overall a great experience for me, and these interviews would not have happened without their dedication to this class.
My Impact: I have made an impact by being willing to get back to all of the stress and excitement of normalcy. After spending almost a full year doing absolutely nothing in my job position due to the Coronavirus, I was finally able to run an event these past couple of weeks, which was Senior Spotlights. After hearing about this opportunity, I was eager to get going, because I've been waiting so long to finally have the change to do a real event at Ripon High.
