September/October ASB Report

Position Assessment: In my position during the months of September and October, I mainly focused on everything related to Powderpuff. Nico, Malery, and I created dates for practices, and facilitated sign-ups at the end of August. We ran a meeting in mid-September in the library to discuss everything to the players and coaches and make sure everyone was on the remind. We then organized all of the jerseys and started to assign jobs for the Powderpuff game on October 3rd for the chain gang, ticket takers, and podiums for Coronation. The week of Powderpuff, we passed out jerseys, then the game went successfully on Thursday. Last week, we ran jersey returns at lunch, but not many people returned them, so we have to put a ton of people on the bill list. So, we now have to get the rest of the jerseys from the players and organize all of them for next year. Outside of my job description, I also helped the sophomore class officers a lot with Homecoming, involving the float, decorations, spirit, and the lip-sync. I also got to know the Kyoto kids well, and sold all of my tri-tip tickets, unlike my group. We did not communicate well, or put in our highest effort.
Standing Committee: I am currently in Sports Relations and Coronation/Winterfest. In Sports Relations, I have been attending sports games and being supportive of them. In Coronation/Winterfest, I have attended the meetings, and assisted Natalie in what is required. I also passed out the maps to the candidates at coronation on October 3.
Special Committee: I am in the Black Light Falls Sports Rally, Tri-Tip, Talent Show, and BBQ committees. For the fall sports rally, I was in Natalie’s committee, and me and Katelyn will take over next year, which is scary to think about, but I’m excited! We helped Natalie set up and cut out colored tape for the flashlights. For tri-tip, my group sold tickets, and we are setting up for the fundraiser on Thursday after school; I am in charge of organizing the meat. For the talent show, Avery, Brendan, and I will soon pick out a theme, organize try-outs, and create a committee to be sure the event runs smoothly. The BBQ went well last time, but I wasn’t there to pass out food because I was doing Powderpuff sign-ups.
Concerns: I am currently concerned with the work-load that is being put upon the class. Although the miniscule amount of tickets we sold was partly accustomed to our lack of collaboration, it was also because of the exhaustion that the entire class felt. Due to Homecoming and Kyoto, along with the quarter ending and the high demands of every class, we were all under high levels of stress. I hope that we get a break soon, or else the stress might be too much for some of us.
Positive Comment: I would like to shoutout Emma for her hard work and dedication during Homecoming. We did our float at her house, and the responsibility was always put on her to clean up and oversee the entire process. She was also active in helping out all of the sophomores that worked on Homecoming-related activities, and did a great job throughout it all.
A change I would like to see: I would like us to spend less time on Brene Brown every Monday. Although we learn some good information, I feel like spending the entire class period on it is kind of a waste, since a lot of time is spent on prolonged discussions.
My Impact: I have made an impact on this campus by heavily participating during Homecoming with my peers. I contributed to the sophomore decorations, float, and lip-sync, and I dressed spirited every day. By being spirited and proud of my class, I helped to encourage my peers to dress up as well, effectively increasing Ripon High pride and sophomore spirit as well.
